What is the latest iLO firmware version? |
| A2. |
iLO firmware version 1.90 is now available providing advanced control, security, diagnostic and iLO Select upgrade capabilities for ProLiant servers. |
|
| Q3. |
What servers support iLO? |
| A3. |
iLO Standard and iLO Advanced are supported on most ProLiant ML/DL 300 and 500 Series servers and BL p-Class servers. Visit the Lights-Out Remote Management Supported Servers web site for the latest list of supported servers. |
|
| Q4. |
How can I update my installed servers with new iLO features? |
| A4. |
Many new features are offered on existing servers simply by updating the firmware. You can do this locally using firmware update components, or over the network using RIBCL XML scripting with the HP Lights-Out Scripting utility, CPQPLOCFG. You can download the utilities, images and examples at no charge from the HP Support and Drivers site for Lights-Out Products. |
|
| Q5. |
How do I deploy iLO if the host is online and I lost the password? |
| A5. |
The HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility is available for Windows and for Linux operating systems. The utility uses RIBCL XML scripts to configure iLO (1.41 and later) as well as RILOE II (1.13 or later). Download the utility and sample scripts, then follow appropriate links. This capability is available without rebooting the server and without prior knowledge of user credentials (you have to run this using OS administrator or root account privileges). |

| Licensing |
| Q1. |
How do I access my license activation key? |
| A1. |
Starting in November 2007, a license entitlement certificate will be delivered in place of a license activation key. The license entitlement certificate will be delivered via physical shipment for existing product numbers (with the exception of tracking licenses) and via e-mail for the new electronic license product numbers. It will contain information needed to redeem license activation key(s) online or via fax. This new electronic redemption process will allow for easier license management and better service and support tracking. For more information, please visit http://www.hp.com/go/ICe-license.
|
|
| Q2. |
What is an electronic license to use or E-Delivery LTU? |
| A2. |
An electronic license is a new product offering which can be purchased as a single license or as multiple licenses with a single activation key. The customers will receive a license entitlement certificate via e-mail. The license entitlement certificate must be redeemed online or via fax in order to obtain the license activation key(s). Electronic license part numbers are only available through limited points of sale; if not available through your usual sales path, you may order the equivalent physical part number.

iLO Select |
| Q1. |
What is iLO Select? |
| A1. |
iLO Select was first introduced on ProLiant servers with iLO 2 management processors. Now, iLO Select is available on first generation iLO based servers. An iLO Select key activates virtual media, directory services, two factor authentication and Power Regulator reporting on first generation iLO servers. |
|
| Q2. |
How can I access iLO Select features on my ProLiant server? |
| A2. |
Simply purchase an iLO Select Pack to obtain the license and key. By inputing the key through the browser, CLI or script, you can activate all of the iLO Select features supported on your ProLiant server. iLO Select features can only be activated on iLO management processors with iLO firmware version 1.90 or greater. |
|
| Q3. |
Can I use the same iLO Select Pack license and key to activate features on iLO 2 management processors? |
| A3. |
Yes. The license and key provided with an iLO Select Pack can be used on either an iLO or iLO 2 based server. |
|
| Q4. |
Is iLO Select supported on ProLiant p-Class blades with first generation iLO management processors? |
| A4. |
No. Since iLO Advanced is bundled with all first generation iLO based ProLiant server blades, there are no additional iLO features to activate. However, this is not the case with iLO 2 based ProLiant p-Class and c-Class server blades. For more information about iLO Select feature activation on iLO 2 server blades, visit the iLO 2 Select web page. |
|
| Q5. |
How should I use iLO Select? |
| A5. |
iLO Select on first generation iLO based ProLiant ML and DL servers is an ideal upgrade for servers that are managed using a remote text console or virtual serial port. It provides an economical way to acquire advanced features such as virtual media, directory services, two-factor authentication and Power Regulator reporting without paying for remote graphical console capabilities. This situation is typically associated with servers running Linux operating systems. |
|
