Ford Motor has bought 20 Alpha-based Unix computers from Compaq Computer to help the Land Rover division's engineering work.The systems will be used for research into crash analysis, aerodynamics, structural design, and noise and vibrations reduction. Ford purchased 18 four-processor ES40 systems and two four-processor ES45s.
