HP introduces new, faster processors for EV7-based AlphaServer systems, delivering as promised to our customers, per our roadmap. To address customers’ mission critical requirements, HP now offers a faster EV7 processor at 1.15 GHz for the AlphaServer ES47 system (2 to 4 processors) and the AlphaServer ES80 system (2 to 8 processors). For the most demanding enterprise applications, HP announces the new EV7 processor at 1.3 GHz for the AlphaServer GS1280 system (2 to 64 processors). These higher speed systems deliver performance gains of 13 to16 percent at the cost of systems with the previously available processor.

A logical choice for OpenVMS and Tru64 UNIX customers

Customers deploying Tru64 UNIX or Open VMS applications will find HP AlphaServer systems the logical choice as they prepare to evolve to a future environment based on HP Integrity servers as business demands require. HP has moved up the release of Tru64 v5.1B-2 to simplify installation and improve reliability (shipping August 2004). HP continues to deliver on its commitment with OpenVMS v7.3-2 and the upcoming release of OpenVMS v8.2, available later this year which will support both AlphaServer systems and Integrity servers. These performance enhancements increase the value and price/performance of the HP AlphaServer Systems and equip you with the capacity to handle planned and unexpected increases in compute workloads.

Agility, reliability, high availability

With these portfolio enhancements, HP enables you to be more agile as they evolve your IT environment to better respond to business needs. HP’s continued support of the AlphaServer portfolio benefits HP customers, including Cerner, whose ground-breaking architecture enables healthcare providers to create an electronic medical record that captures all linear patient information and enables clients to go totally paperless. Cerner has worked with HP to create an infrastructure that ensures uncompromised reliability, high availability of critical healthcare applications, and cost savings that can be passed along to its customers where people’s health — and often their lives — are on the line.

"We have had a long standing history with HP AlphaServer Technology. With each AlphaServer update, the servers continue to offer better price performance and scalability. These are major benefits to our success in offering exceptional healthcare solutions to our clients. HP AlphaServer systems and OpenVMS continue to advance, providing the power we need for today and tomorrow."
